Toad in a Hole Sandwiches
Butter 1 slice of bread. Cut a 2 1/2 inch circle out of the center with a glass or cookie cutter. Place the bread butter side down in a preheated skillet. Crack a egg into the hole of the bread. Cook for several minutes, salt and pepper, and turn over to cook the other side. Cook the circular bread "lid" also. Serve with the "lid" placed on top of the egg. Don't ask why it's called "Toad in a Hole" I don't know!

how weird. Toad in the Hole in England is something completely different, involving sausages and yorkshire puddings... My family always called the recipe you're describing "egg in the hole."
